While the intellectual universe can exist by itself, the emotional universe cannot. Intellectual space serves as a host organism to the emotional one. We are only able to describe associations of the emotional space in relation to intellectual space. The axes are represented by dashed lines because in some sense this is an impossible universe. Art equals depth, reflexes are countable and time is perceptible. Our understanding of time as a unit of measurement could be expanded to include entirely new reference points, although this is not absolutely necessary.
One of the applications of EMU could be to measure the emotional footprint left on an individual by another individual, by a group, or even by society. The ability to assess the impact of an emotional footprint could prove to be of as yet undetermined significance.
